Tutor Profile – Maree Burnnand

Maree is an embroiderer, who, through her work, likes to challenge peoples perception of embroidery. Maree has a love for textiles and fibre, and her further education was in fashion and textile design, however, as she has aged, embroidery has come to the fore.

Maree’s work tends to be very traditional and simple in its techniques, but the subject matter is often not what you would expect to find in embroidery. Her subject matter reflects whatever she is into at the time and the works can be a little random, with hints of music, art and the macabre that she loves, seem to come through. She loves to share her knowledge and enjoys seeing students learn new techniques, or increase the skills they already have.
