Description

Mary “May” Morris was an English artisan, embroidery designer, jeweler, socialist, and editor. She was the younger daughter of the Pre-Raphaelite artist and designer William Morris. This original design is inspired by May’s embroideries from the 1890s-1910s. It is stitched in Au ver a Soie – Silk Perlee threads on navy linen. There is a choice of colour – pink as per sample, or red

Techniques used: long and short stitch, chain stitch, stem stitch, fly stitch satin stitch

Size: 35cm x 35cm

Level of skill: confident beginners

Tutor Profile – Sue Lucas

Embroidery is Sue’s art and passion. Sue has been seriously stitching for the last 15 years, has taught and exhibited around New Zealand. Sue loves to create and learn everything she can, wanting to share her enthusiasm and passion for all things stitch related. “I enjoy the challenge of designing my own work and teaching others new techniques”. Simply put, Sue loves embroidery and cannot imagine a day without it. Sue was the ANZEG traveling tutor for 2023, as well as traveling to London in 2023 to teach three classes at the Needlework Tours World Convention.

Registration cost: $150 class fee

Kit cost: $95.00 
the kit contains all of the silks (Au ver a Soie) & printed design on the fabric to be stitched, lining, needles & notes. To finish your piece into a cushion you will need backing fabric, interfacing and a cushion insert. All notes for completing this piece into a cushion will be provided.

A Needs List, if required, will also be provided prior to the class.
