Ōtepoti Dunedin Embroidery School 2025
15 & 16 March 2025
Description
Techniques used:
Reticella is an early needlepoint lace derived from cutwork and drawnwork and made by buttonholing geometric patterns on or over a fabric foundation and cutting away the foundation.
Using 28 count Permin Linen and Perle and/or cordonnet thread, students can choose between the larger 40cm square piece, or a smaller 20cm square piece. The larger one has three areas of stitching, with each square having slightly different elements. The smaller one has only one central square and may suit those who are not so confident.
There is some pre-class preparation that can take some time, which includes the satin stitch around the squares, cutting and weaving. One square only needs to be prepared before class. Techniques to be used are: satin stitching, four sided stitch, bullions, needle lace stitches
Size: 40cm x 40cm
Level of skill required: Intermediate – with some embroidery experience
